.TV Sellers Beware: Not all Sedo Premium Auction Listings are Treated Equally

I’ve decided Sedo is a fine place for listing and selling domain names for offers and counter offers, but at this point, I doubt if I’ll participate in any more of their “premium” auctions, at least not with my .tv domain names. On their home page, they advertise their Great Domains / Premium Auction event. Fine, but the link takes you to GreatDomains.com, where not all the domain names are listed.

I’m very disappointed Sedo doesn’t disclose this to sellers at the time they submit their domain names for inclusion in the premium auction. I’m not sure how they expect buyers to know there are .tvs or other extensions included if Sedo can’t or won’t make them aware.  Seems like some sellers are not getting the broker/auction service as advertised.

Sedo's premium auction link takes you offsite to GreatDomains

This has been one of my less costly lessons in domaining. Not the first, and probably not the last.

Cheers!

Updated list of my .tv domain names for sale

I recently updated my domain portfolio and put together a pretty comprehensive list of the .tv domain names I currently have available. Everything is for sale, of course, but I won’t be letting them all go cheaply.

If you would like to make an anonymous offer: You will find Buy it Now prices for my domain names at Sedo. Most are negotiable, and with a strong enough initial offer, I may take a chance on a Sedo auction.

MorganLinton.TV – Good philosophy, sound domain name advice

I haven’t yet had the opportunity to catch Morgan Linton’s show live, but I’ve watched a few of the recorded videos. I love it! especially the Domaining Lightning Round, where you post your domain name and Morgan gives a quick opinion of whether your domain is development-worthy or one you may want to think about off-loading. I really appreciate that he doesn’t sneer at cc tlds or hyphens, but believes, as I do, that they are development friendly and will only grow in value in the coming years.

As a domainer, I am really enjoying Morgan’s work, but more than that, he seems like a really, really nice guy. My favorite part of the show was the final thought: “It all comes down to relationships in business. And domaining, like any other business, still revolves around the idea of having to work with other people. Whether you’re sitting behind a desk or out there in front of somebody, you have to project yourself in a positive manner, and in a way that you’d actually like to be represented.” He goes on to say… “at the end of the day, you can choose whether you want to help somebody out, whether you want to expand their knowledge or whether you want to shoot ‘em down and tell ‘em to get lost.” Nice to see someone choosing to be a sharer rather than an information hoarder. It’s always been my philosophy that if you have true confidence in yourself and your abilities, you shouldn’t feel threatened or afraid to help others develop their own.

Anyway, my thanks to Morgan for a great show. Alas, I won’t see tonight’s video either, because I plan to be floating on a raft in Torch Lake. I’m in the final few days of vacation, and I’ve actually had several hours on end when I didn’t check my emails, scour expiring domain name lists, and couldn’t have even told you where my phone was. I’m so proud! Almost as proud as when I sold my first 4-figure domain name. Almost.

TTFN!

5 Reasons to Get a .TV Domain Name

From GetSeenOn.TV

5 reasons to get a .tv domain

  1. Keep control of your own content. Why leave everything in the hands of a third party? If you already have a YouTube channel, then a .tv domain name is a no-brainer.
  2. Being on TV was once something for the elite few. Today, everyone is a weblebrity in the making: “Make sure someone else doesn’t steal your star – secure your .tv domain name today!”
  3. With your own .tv domain name, you can amplify and extend your own video conversation and focus on the all-important Google Juice/link love that comes with a wholly owned domain name.
  4. Your name is who you are – your domain name is who your online presence is. You.tv is YOU online.
  5. Video = Immediacy. In the age of the iPhone, iPAd, FlipCams, etc. Video is the easiest way of projecting yourself and your POV online.

Making your .TV (or any) Website or Domain a Destination

I have really been enjoying Morgan’s videos. I think he has some great ideas and a lot of enthusiasm about .TV and also sound website development.

In this video Morgan Linton discusses “the importance of turning your domain names into online destinations. The domain investing world began with parking, evolved into mini-sites and is now taking a move towards greater interactivity. Recorded in beautiful Santa Barbara California this video will show you how to take those mini-sites one step further and increase the value of your domain investments!”

Now Morgan is developing his own streaming television show at MorganLinton.TV.  Best of success to Morgan. I’ll be watching, and hoping to pick up some great tips along the way.
