As part of my .tv investment research, I am forever stumbling across really interesting things people are doing with .TV domains. Today, while researching “Australien” travel and videos, I encountered the exceptionally cool WeltFlug.TV. WeltFlug.TV chronicles the couple Stütz Gyrocopter World Tour, their unique adventure trip around the world flying with gyrocopters in 5 continents to realize childhood dreams.

Before getting their own children, the married pilot couple Stütz wanted to realise their childhood dream. They are not travelling to the moon yet, but around the world by gyrocopter! They fly on 5 continents with gyrocopters: Europe, Africa, Australia & New Zealand, USA and South America. This flying adventure leads the two pilots through some of the most beautiful areas in the world. It is a new dimension of discovering places by gyrocopter. A completely new perspective and sometimes the only means to get there. On their way the two ask also local people and children about their dreams. Andreas and Melanie Stütz not only visit, but support projects of the children´s charity “terre des hommes” with documenting their around the world trip by gyrocopter on film and in book. To make childhood dreams come true.

The video is quite beautiful as well as fun, and the incorporation of it is another great example of how well suited the .TV extension is to modern multimedia development.

Takes the pressure off." src="http://hotdomains.tv/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/stevemartin-171x300.jpg" alt="" width="72" height="126" /> The video below takes a pretty hilarious poke at the domaining world, and the very real difficulty in finding affordable, pronounceable .com domain names. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the Steve Martin carnival scene in “The Jerk.” Hence my alternate title: Step right up and win some crap!

Seriously, though. If you are in the market for a good product domain name for your business, perhaps it’s time to consider a dot-tv.

I know .com is still king, and if you have the 6 or 7 figure budget for your keyword product domain name in the .com, by all means, go for it. But if you don’t, and let’s face it, most of us don’t, then I think a .TV domain is a truly viable option, especially if you’re doing video product guides or instructional videos as part of your sales efforts.

One great way to capitalize on the inherent video appeal of a dot-tv domain name is to use your dot-TV as the video hub for your site. For an excellent example of this, I highly recommend checking out what the MyShoes.Com folks have done with Shoes.TV (for which they paid, by the way, a very reasonable $18,000).

Dot-TV domains are becoming more mainstream, they’re incredibly affordable as compared to a similar .com, and they do have that inherent “There’s a good possibility I’m going to find video on this site” appeal. Isn’t it time you got yours?

Online video is exploding as more individuals, brands, publishers and everyone in-between find it’s the best way to tell their stories in an interesting and engaging way that matches what audiences are coming to expect as part of their online experience. From personal vlogging to corporate marketing online video is everywhere and .tv is the best and easiest way to tell the audience that video is a significant part of the mix.

I really enjoy watching the Watch.TV videos each month to see how people are capitalizing on the inherent, fresh, multimedia appeal of a dot-tv domain name.

I haven’t yet had the opportunity to catch Morgan Linton’s show live, but I’ve watched a few of the recorded videos. I love it! especially the Domaining Lightning Round, where you post your domain name and Morgan gives a quick opinion of whether your domain is development-worthy or one you may want to think about off-loading. I really appreciate that he doesn’t sneer at cc tlds or hyphens, but believes, as I do, that they are development friendly and will only grow in value in the coming years.

As a domainer, I am really enjoying Morgan’s work, but more than that, he seems like a really, really nice guy. My favorite part of the show was the final thought: “It all comes down to relationships in business. And domaining, like any other business, still revolves around the idea of having to work with other people. Whether you’re sitting behind a desk or out there in front of somebody, you have to project yourself in a positive manner, and in a way that you’d actually like to be represented.” He goes on to say… “at the end of the day, you can choose whether you want to help somebody out, whether you want to expand their knowledge or whether you want to shoot ‘em down and tell ‘em to get lost.” Nice to see someone choosing to be a sharer rather than an information hoarder. It’s always been my philosophy that if you have true confidence in yourself and your abilities, you shouldn’t feel threatened or afraid to help others develop their own.

Anyway, my thanks to Morgan for a great show. Alas, I won’t see tonight’s video either, because I plan to be floating on a raft in Torch Lake. I’m in the final few days of vacation, and I’ve actually had several hours on end when I didn’t check my emails, scour expiring domain name lists, and couldn’t have even told you where my phone was. I’m so proud! Almost as proud as when I sold my first 4-figure domain name. Almost.

TTFN!

In this video Morgan Linton discusses “the importance of turning your domain names into online destinations. The domain investing world began with parking, evolved into mini-sites and is now taking a move towards greater interactivity. Recorded in beautiful Santa Barbara California this video will show you how to take those mini-sites one step further and increase the value of your domain investments!”

Now Morgan is developing his own streaming television show at MorganLinton.TV. Best of success to Morgan. I’ll be watching, and hoping to pick up some great tips along the way.
